Understanding Michigan’s Earned Sick Time Act

Michigan’s new Paid Sick Leave law, set to take effect on February 21, 2025, brings significant changes for employers and employees statewide. Under the Earned Sick Time Act (ESTA), all Michigan-based workers—including part-time, seasonal, and gig employees—will now accrue one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 72 hours per year. This law applies to all businesses, regardless of size, and introduces broader coverage compared to the previous law. John I. Tesija, Esq. and Paul Catenacci, Esq. from Novara Tesija Catenacci McDonald & Baas, PLLC created an informative article to help you prepare before the law takes effect.

CAM is hosting two workshops to cover the new Earned Sick Time Act:

Monday, November 4th from 9:00am-11:00am

Thursday, November 21st from 9:00am-11:00am
