Late last week, House Bill 4002 and Senate Bill 15 regarding the new Michigan Earned Sick Time Act (ESTA), which is scheduled to take effect on February 21, 2025, were introduced in Lansing. There is hope that we can attain additional changes, especially with respect to employers with employees covered by an existing collective bargaining agreement. A second State House hearing is scheduled for this Thursday, January 16th. Now is the time to take action.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has finalized a critical revision to its personal protective equipment (PPE) standard for the construction industry. This update explicitly requires that PPE properly fits any construction worker who needs it, enhancing protection against hazardous work conditions. The rule will be effective 30 days after publication in the Federal Register.
Submit Your Projects for CAM’s 2024 Project Achievement Awards
CAM invites construction professionals to submit their top projects for our annual Project Achievement Awards program, where 12 of the most outstanding projects from the past year are selected, with a chance to be named the CAM Project of the Year. Projects must have been constructed or designed by a CAM member company and must have reached substantial completion between June 2024 and June 2025. The deadline to submit entries is Friday, March 21st.
